For generations, we have come together to celebrate something truly special — community, country, and the magic of Independence Day. Now, we’re inviting the next generation of artists to help us tell that story in a bold new way.

The Scripps Mesa Fireworks T-Shirt Design Contest is officially open to UTK–12th grade students!

A Year Worth Celebrating

This isn’t just any year.

As our nation approaches 250 years of America, we reflect on the spirit of unity, creativity, and freedom that defines us. Right here in our local community, we’ve been celebrating Independence Day for over 50 years — a tradition built by neighbors, families, and students just like you.

Now it’s your turn to leave your mark.

Your Design. Your Community. Your Legacy.

We’re looking for an original t-shirt design that captures:

• The excitement of Independence Day
• Community Pride
• The energy of fireworks lighting up the sky
• And the spirit of 250 years of America

Whether your style is bold and modern, classic and patriotic, or totally unique — we want to see your vision.

Entries for the 2026 contest must be submitted by Friday, May 1, 2026.

• Limit one (1) entry per person.
• Contest open to Mira Mesa and Scripps Ranch students in grades K-12.
• Scripps Mesa Fireworks reserves the right to cancel the contest at any time.
• Entrants acknowledge the design is original and is free of copyrighted or trademarked material.
• The winning design will become the sole property of Scripps Mesa Fireworks who has the right to alter and duplicate the
  entry design for any purpose for which it deems necessary or desirable, without the need for further permission.
• No commercial content for products other than the sponsor’s is allowed
• Winner(s) will be announced by May 15, 2026, and will receive a prize package worth up to $50. The prize package includes
  one (1) Barnes & Noble $25 gift certificate and one (1) Scripps Mesa Fireworks fundraising store item worth up to $25.

Following in the Footsteps of Past Winners

From 2017 through 2020, student artists helped define what our celebration looks like — their designs became part of Mira Mesa history, worn proudly by thousands across the community.

Now, after a few years away, the contest returns — bigger, more meaningful, and more exciting than ever.
