Scripps Mesa Fireworks Launches $75,000 Campaign to Bring Back 4th of July Show in 2026 for America’s 250th Birthday

Mira Mesa, San Diego, CA – August 5, 2025 – Scripps Mesa Fireworks has officially announced an ambitious goal to return its beloved 4th of July fireworks show in 2026—just in time for the 250th anniversary of the United States. To make that dream a reality, the organization is launching a fundraising campaign with a target of raising $75,000.

For over 50 years, the fireworks in Mira Mesa have been the finale to one of San Diego’s most cherished Independence Day traditions. Since returning from several unfortunate interruptions—including the loss of their traditional staging site at Mira Mesa High—the fireworks have lit up the night skies three times, but none of those shows have taken place on July 4th. Now, with a historic milestone on the horizon, the organization is determined to go #BackToTheFourth—and they’re calling on the public to help.

“Mira Mesans lit up the skies for generations on July 4th, and there’s no better time to bring that back than the 250th birthday of our nation,” said Michael Spencer, President of Scripps Mesa Fireworks. “This campaign isn’t just about fireworks. It’s about community, tradition, and pride in who we are as Americans.”

The $75,000 goal will cover costs such as professional fireworks displays, permits, security, and all the logistics that go into putting on a safe, free, and family-friendly event.

Supporters can donate online and track progress on the group’s website and social media platforms. Every contribution matters, whether it’s $5 from a local resident or $10,000 from a community sponsor.

With the theme “Back to the Fourth”, the group is also encouraging the use of the hashtag #BackToTheFourth to spread awareness and rally excitement for a celebration worthy of America’s 250th Independence Day.
